A Little Bit of Your Time

My dad passed away from Colon Cancer on November 18, 2011.  Alta High School is doing their annual year long fundraiser for Huntsman Cancer Foundation, this is where my daddy was treated.  We have a website set up where you can make donations via credit/debit card.  It would mean a lot to me if you would donate.  I love you all.

For the Love of Cookies

I have curves and I am not afraid to show them off. All you girls should be very jealous of my body. Since I have perfected the formula of curvaceous women I felt obligated to share with my "less fortunate" friends.
So here are my top 10 ways to gain a womanly figure
1. Eat plenty of sweets (yes this means cookies, cakes, brownies, candy, chocolate etc....)
2. Never exercise (seriously this only leads to muscle tone... and that's a no.)
3. Allow plenty of TV time (lounging is optimal)
4. Never skip a meal (unless it is for religious purposes)
5. Sugary cereal is the bomb.com
6. Never pass up an opportunity to "lick the spoon" (whether its cake or brownie batter or even cookie dough this is a woman's delight)
7. Always ask for seconds (and if you can, while no on is looking, lick your plate then run it to the garbage/sink so no one will know)
8. Carry snacks with you where ever you go (preferably sugary sweet and/or chocolate covered)
9. After you finish your dinner allow an hour to digest, then eat a bountiful desert
10. Everything tastes better when it is smothered in either cheese, chocolate, butter, salt, or cream

Now that you have that "ideal" womanly figure you need to learn how to flaunt it... Here are my top ways to flaunt that sexy body you have
1. Swing your hips (seriously exaggerate your movements)
2. Pleated skirts and pants add extra curves to your hips and tummy
3. Accentuate your waste and flow out from there (this creates an illusion that you have an hourglass figure)
4. Love your body (this shows your ambitious nature)
5. Never try to "blend in" ALWAYS make an effort to stand out
6. Horizontal stripes give definition to your curves
7. When dancing don't be afraid to let things jiggle
8. Hands on the hips whenever you are standing
9. Wear push-up bras. EVERYDAY
10. Walk like you own the world (after all you are "large and in charge")

And if you ever really wonder if being curvaceous is the best way to go just always remember that there is more to love (:

Big Dave

It is a rare privilege to know someone who has touched and influenced so many lives. My dad is one of these people. Tonight he was awarded the "On My Honor" award for adult scouting leaders. Current and previous boys from our neighborhood troop, 1293, came to see him. These boys have touched my dads life, my life, my families lives and will continue to touch many peoples lives. Thank you boys so much for the impact you have had on my dads life. He loves each and everyone of you and will always be there to lift you up when you fall. Please remember what he taught you about being a man and a leader and a brother. You are all wonderful people who will do great things. Always remember who you are and you will do just fine. I love you all and wish you the best in life. May God bless you as you continue through life.

I Want To Be a Missionary Now

To My Dear Friend Nick Crump,
Today I had the honor of hearing you speak in my ward, and boy what a crowd you drew. Never have I heard a boy speak with such conviction as you did this afternoon. YOU ARE GOING TO BE AN AMAZING MISSIONARY.

Words cannot describe what an influence you have had on my life. Growing up just down the street from you I never pictured myself ever associating with you. But as time wore on, and like it always is, life was unpredictable. Last year I had the privilege of working with you and having you as my PLT dad. You loved me and accepted me and because of you and Lexi I was really comfortable in my skin for the first time. Because of you I was able to extend myself and reach new heights in my personal life. I know I have already told you thank you many times before, but thank you again for being such an amazing leader, friend and example. You loved me for me and never made me feel like an outcast. I would not be half the person I am today if it weren't for the time we spent together last year.

Now, remember as you are going on your mission, that you are a Son of our Heavenly Father, and he loves you. You have made some great decisions in your life and I believe that with the time you have left you will continue to make great decisions. However, the devil is a cunning man and will do what ever it takes to bring you down. DON'T LET HIM! You are too great a person and we need people like you to proclaim the good word of the gospel.

Nick, I love you with all my heart and I know these next two years will be the best two years of your life. Never forget us lowly kids who are waiting for you back home. Go and Do the Work! (:

Love Maegan Kasteler (:

p.s. this is just a little motivation as you are getting ready to leave (:

Beautiful Disaster

She loves her momma's lemonade
Hates the sounds that goodbyes make
She prays one day she'll find someone to need her
She swears there's no difference between the lies and compliments
It's all the same if everybody leaves her
And every magazine tells her she's not good enough
The pictures that she sees makes her cry
She would change everything, everything, just ask her
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster
She just needs someone to take her home
She's giving boys what they want
Trying to act so nonchalant
Afraid to see that she's lost her direction
She never stays the same for long
Assuming that she'll get it wrong
Perfect only in her imperfection
She's not a drama queen
She doesn't wanna feel this way
Only 17 and tired, yeah
She would change everything for happy ever after
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster
She just needs someone to take her home
She's just the way she is
But no one's told her that's okay
She would change everything, everything, just ask her
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster
She would change everything for happy ever after
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster
She just needs someone to take her home
She just needs someone to take her home

School Spirit!

Tonight my school, Alta High School, had our famous Homecoming Pep Rally. I went. It was fun.

So I was sitting there with my friends and over the intercom someone said "Maegan Kasteler, we need you right now." I didn't think much of it cuz I am Hawk Council President so I ran to the front and they said they needed me in the sound booth. So I ran back up and they said they didnt need me up there. So I went to the gate that leads to the field and talked to the pricipal to see if he would let me on the field to talk to the SBOs about why they needed me. He said no. So I was like whatever and was walking back to sit with my friends when over the intercom again and said "Maegan Kasteler, we need you to the front right now" SO I raised my hand and was waving it around amoung the crowd in the front and Dillon Cortez took the mike, looked at me and said "Maegan will you go to Homecoming with me?" I screamed and said yes and gave him a thumbs up and everyone screamed and all these people rushed in and gave me hugs and I still havent stopped smiling. So now I AM GOING TO HOMECOMING!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! (:

Just thought I would share

so here's to school spirit

and pep rallys

and Homeocoming

and High school

and friends

Have You Forgotten- Darryl Worley

I hear people saying we don't need this war
But, I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
Well, after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And we vowed to get the one’s behind bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for

Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Yeah, some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

Where Were you When the World Stopped Turning- Alan Jackson

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Working on some stage in LA
Did you stand there in shock at the site of
That black smoke rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger
In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below

Did you burst out in pride
For the red white and blue
The heroes who died just doing what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself to what really matters

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Speak with some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

The greatest is love
The greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day

You Find Out Who Your Friends Are

Run your car off the side of the road
Get stuck in a ditch way out in the middle of nowhere
Or get yourself in a bind lose the shirt off your back
Need a floor, need a couch, need a bus fare

This is where the rubber meets the road
This is where the cream is gonna rise
This is what you really didn't know
This is where the truth don't lie

[Chorus]
You find out who your friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas, get there fast
Never stop to think 'what's in it for me?' or 'it's way too far'
They just show on up with their big old heart
You find out who your friends are

Everybody wants to slap your back
wants to shake your hand
when you're up on top of that mountain
But let one of those rocks give way then you slide back down look up
and see who's around then

This ain't where the road comes to an end
This ain't where the bandwagon stops
This is just one of those times when
A lot of folks jump off

[Chorus]

When the water's high
When the weather's not so fair
When the well runs dry
Who's gonna be there?

[Chorus]

You find out who your friends are
(yeah, yeah)
You find out who your friends are

Run your car off the side of the road
Get stuck in a ditch way out in the middle of nowhere
(Well man, I've been there)
Or get yourself in a bind lose the shirt off your back
Need a floor, need a couch, need a bus fare
(Man, I've been there)

Man, I've been there
Oooh yeah
So I have been thinking about how amazing all my friends are
and tonight when my doorbell rang at 10:45 I remembered how lucky I am
lucky to know so many people
lucky to have surrounded myself with such amazing friends
lucky to associate with all these incredible people
lucky to have so many friends
well I went to the door and this is what I found

someone left me a flower (which is so pretty!), cookies and two notes.
to whomever left this for me, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You will never know how much this means to me and how much this was needed. You were truly a God Send.

Another thing! Along the lines of friends I had the opportunity to go to the Distinguished Young Women's Pageant and see some of my amazingly beautiful and talented friends perform. Here they are!

so to all my friends new and old

the calm and the bold

to those who have loved me at my worst

and those who make me laugh till I burst

Thank you for all that you do

I will always love you too

I'll never forget the times that we shared

it meant a lot when you showed that you cared

the memories I've gained

I will carry forever

I Shaved my Legs on the Back of a Boat

I am finally home for the summer! And boy was I busy this year! Here's how it went...

June 8: Last day of school

June 13-18: EFY at USU

June 18: Lunch with friends at Zupas

June 18-26: Alaska Cruise

June 27-28: District Leadership Academy

June 29-July 9: WORK!

July 11-15: Lake Powell with the wardie group

July 18-21: Trek

July 25-30: WORK!

August 2-7: Lake Powell with the Winegars

So Lake Powell with the Winegars was so much fun! We did everything from cliff jumping to wake surfing. Tube wars were amazing and so much fun! On the way down we watched movies and slept. When we got there we readied the house boat and took off to find the perfect beach. Then the fun started! We experimented with everything. We did kneeboarding, wakeboarding, canoeing, swimming, wake surfing, tubing, water skiing, and slolom. I can only personally do tubing but it was great fun to watch everyone else have some epic wipeouts. We filled the week doing everything under the sun. Late night chats and watching for shoting stars were the entertainment of the night. It was so nice to rekindle friendships and spend time with some of the most amazing people. And good news! I DIDN'T GET SUNBURNED! (:

So now it is back to work and my summer is over, and just in time too, registration starts tomorrow! I am going to be a senior. So this week I am starting College applications, regestering for school, working registration for PLT, starting back up hard and heavy at work, and doing presentations.

So here's to summer and all the joys it brought. Here's to the start of the rest of my life. Thanks to all those who made this summer so amazing. I love you all! (:

Wildflower

Lake Powell.

So I just returned from an amazing trip to Lake Powell with some amazing friends. I had a marvelous time and enjoyed playing in the sun, laying out, riding boats, climbing/jumping off rocks, full moons, fires, rattle snakes, lizards, fishing, cooking, and riding wave runners.

I have been so blessed with some amazing oportunities this summer. I have been able to do more and see more then I ever have before.

On friday when we were packing up I recieved 2 phone calls. Both from my grandparents. It was then I found out that my father had gone in for surgery. I had no idea that was going to happen while I was gone.

Seeing as it is Sunday I thought I would share an inspirational song. This song is called

"I Will Not Be Still"

I've never been the kind to testify

I don't have the words His truth deserves

It's a simple thing He asks

A worthy heart and willing hands

He says if I make the choice He'll help me find my voice

He calls me to serve an I can not fail Him

The one who has given me all that I have

I place my trust in Him alone

He knows the yearnings of my soul

Because He believes in me I will go willingly

How can I keep this gift to myself

When I can lift somebody else

I am a witness of His miricles and mercy

I put my future in His hands

Knowing He's made me all that I am

When I put my faith in Him

The truth begins to speak

His power is real it moves me untill

I will not be still

Lifting the hands that hang down in sorrow

Strengthening knees that bend down in dispair

Reaching the hopeless hearts

That do not know His love

Seeing their lives begin to change

I know I'll never be the same

How can I keep this gift to myself

When I can lift somebody else

I'll be a witness of His miricles and mercy

I put my future in His hands

Knowing He's made me all that I am

When I put my faith in Him

The truth begins to speak

His power is real it moves me untill

I will not be still

HIS POWER IS REAL

IT MOVES ME UNTILL

I WILL NOT BE STILL

The Longest Week of my Life

So. On Tuesday of this week my father was taken to the ER and after seven hours there he was admitted into the hospital. He underwent massive amounts of tests and treatments to try and help with the pain he was in. They finally found a dosage of medication that will allow him to return to a somewhat normal life. They are also going to start him on a sequence of five doses of radiation on his spine as well as a single dose on the upper back. Chemo has been postponed and surgery as a possibility. Right now I am just thankful he is alive. Thank you all for your support and your prayers. Love you all (:

You Might as Well Throw Gasoline on a Fire

It ain't complicated
Well I've grown to hate it
I never liked the taste of crow
But baby I ate it
They tried to warn me
They said that you were ornery
So don't bring me those big brown eyes
and tell me that you're sorry
Well you might as well throw gasoline on a fire

The way you lie
You lie like a priceless Persian rug on
a rich man's floor
and you lie like a coon dog basking
in the sunshine on my porch
Well you lie like a penny in a parking
lot at the grocery store
It just comes way too natural to you
The way you lie

That ain't my perfume, I bet she had a curfew
You told me you were out with the boys and
baby I believed you
So why you lookin' so nervous
You know you kind of deserve this
I ought to kill you right now
And do the whole wide world a service
Well my daddy's gonna straighten you out
Like a piece of wire, like a piece of wire

The way you lie
You lie like the man with the slicked back
hair who sold me that Ford
Yeah you lie like a pine tree in the back yard
after last month's storm
Well you lie like a penny in a parking lot at
the grocery store
It just comes way too natural to you
The way you lie

Well I tell you what I'm gonna do
I'm gonna drive to the big old muddy river
I'm gonna park my car in the middle of the
mile long bridge
And there I'm gonna cry
Well maybe just a little
Then I'm gonna slip off the ring
that you put on my finger
And give it a big old fling and watch it sink
Down, down, down
And there it's gonna lie until the Lord
comes back around

Because you lie like a priceless Persian rug on
a rich man's floor
You lie like a coon dog basking
in the sunshine on my porch
Well you lie like a penny in a parking
lot at the grocery store
It just comes so dang natural to you
The way you lie

The way you lie
Well it's what you do, it's who you are

Rain Makes Corn

Well, the time has come for me to report back about my vacation! IT WAS AMAZING! haha I wrote a whole post describing how awesome it was then the whole thing got deleted. SOOOOOOOO in short I saw lots of glaciers, a porcupine, a Lumberjack show, The Bucthart Gardens, rode a train, ate lots of food, crossed a suspension bridge, went to an open air market, went hot tubing, got charged by a whale and took lots of pictures!

Then after a flight delay in Seattle I finally made it home to sleep in my bed for the first time in 2 weeks, then I woke up early and started day one at a Leadership Conference/"Diversity Retreat". I met lots of new people and had a blast! Little did I know but this is a leadership group for Canyons School District and we will be meeting together on multiple occasions next year. Haha yet another thing to add to my list of things that I am involved in next year.

Home Again

Well Hello! I am home again if only for a little while. I have just returned from EFY in Logan Utah at Utah State. I met some amazing people and was so sad to say goodbye. So this is for all my fellow members of "The Word".
I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you...
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made from what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend...
I have enjoyed getting to know some of the most amazing people on this planet and I was sad to say goodbye but now (drumroll please) I AM PACKING AGAIN!!! Yes again. Going for week two of my non-homecooked-meals-own-bed-schoolfriend stint. I am so excited to be going on a cruise to ALASKA with my family (: I am so excited! So for all of you reading this... be very jealous. And don't worry I will eat enough food for the all of us.
Lastly! I love you (:

She Wore a.......

It was an itsy, bitsy, teenie, weenie, yellow polka-dot bikini
That she wore for the first time today

One thing you might not know about me is I loath bikinis

So today when I went swimsuit shopping I was quite distraught to find almost every swimsuit to be a bikini.

I HATE BIKINIS!!!!!

On the plus side, I did end up finding a swimsuit (well a top at least)
